Sam's birthday party is coming up in two weeks and I need party favor ideas from all of you. What are some cool things that you've seen at the many birthday parties you have attended? It will be both boys and girls and we really don't have a theme. It's at Pump It Up, so I'm obviously looking for something inexpensive, but thoughtful. Ideas???

Here's my thought. All the little stuff adds up and is just junk that we end up throwing away. Sheridan mentioned a great idea. Go buy a big candy bar and wrap some ribbon around it. They will love it! Easy, simple, and cheap.
I agree with Carrie...all of those little dollar store tchotchkies end up getting thrown away in a week anyway so go with one bigger item.
We have gone to 2 parties recently, and one had those little jelly mason jars filled with gum balls for the older kids and sweet tarts for the younger ones. It was very cute. The other party just had gum balls in a clear cellophane bag with curly ribbon tying it together. My girls LOVED it and your not stuck with all those junky little toys.
My niece just did a b'day party for her daughters (boys probably would balk) that she requested no gifts for her daughter and the guests brought baby items to donate to a crisis pregnancy center. Then everyone is blessed.
Once we filled coke bottles with M&M's for the party favors.

I have a friend who made iced sugar cookies in the shape of the party theme and each child took home a bag of festively wrapped cookies. You could do holiday shapes since it is December if you wanted to. The kids loved them!
Oooooh....I forgot about the iced cookies. My wonderful mother-n-law always makes those for the girls party favors. She always makes them to go along with the theme of the party. The christmas idea is wonderful!! We have done flip flops, flowers, strawberries, etc. They are so good and very easy. You can go online and find about any cookie cutter you want. I have a wonderul cookie recipe and the "sugar baby icing" that goes along with it (the kind that hardens). Let me know.
I like those paperback books that you can get for less than $2 at walmart. We got one at a birthday party and it was finally a treat we kept.
I'm a bit late on responding. :) I like all the ideas about something you can eat. I have spent way too much money in the past on junk for goody bags. Ashley's recipe for "Sugar Baby Icing" is great and pretty easy to make. I made Bob the Tomato cookies one year for Braxton's b-day and used her recipe. They turned out so yummy! Being preggers and all you may want to keep it simple and fill a cellophane bag with gums balls or m&m's...that sounds cute too.
